Alan: Getting care away from home

Alan, 52, was visiting friends when he felt pain in his lower back and abdomen. He called his doctor’s office and was told to head for the nearest ER. “It was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced.”

At the ER, Alan was diagnosed as having a kidney stone and prescribed medication for the pain. “I was able to finish my trip and I saw my doctor when I got home.” he said.
