Total Cost of Care Rating​​

​​OPA is pleased to offer Total Cost of Care ratings. Each year, participating medical groups that have commercial HMO health plan members are reviewed to determine the average monthly amount paid to care for the members of the medical group. This total amount included payments to medical groups and other providers by patients and their health insurance plans. 

The ‘Total Cost of Care’ rating is a summary rating developed by comparing medical groups’ costs. Each medical group’s costs are calculated by assessing actual payments from patients and health plans for the care provided to members of any age who belonged to that medical group during 2018.

The ‘Total ​Cost of Care’ ratings along with the star ratings on the quality of each medical group will help you compare and cho​ose a medical group based on both quality and cost. Look for medical groups in the Medical Group - Commercial Report Card page that have higher quality and lower payments. ​

​​Medical Group Report Card - Medicare Advantage 2019-20 Edition​​
The Office of the Patient Advocate’s Medical Group Report Card ratings for Medicare Advantage Members 2019-20 Edition are now available.

Each year, participating medical groups who have Medicare HMO health plan members are reviewed to determine if the medical care provided meets national standards for using treatments proven to be effective. The report card's star ratings include not only overall quality of care, but ratings on different clinical measures such as breast cancer screenings, ​colorectal ​cancer screenings and more. To view the ratings, click h​ere​ or visit OPA's report card page.​
